Witels Civil & Hiring, earthmoving and precision specialists, located in Slanghoek Valley near Rawsonville, currently has a vacancy for an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic who is an independent self-starter and has a knack for problem-solving. RESPONSIBILITIES: · Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines and related components · Take oil samples and arrange the analysis thereof · Determine the parts and/or equipment needed for a specific job and place orders accordingly · Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements and inspections · Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues · Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed · Comply with health and safety regulations REQUIREMENTS: · Grade 12 (Matric) · Qualified Red Seal Diesel Mechanic · At least 5 years’ relevant experience · Valid code EC1 (10) and PDP driver’s licence will be advantageous · Basic computer skills (i.e. MS Office) · Fully proficient in Afrikaans and ability to read and understand English · Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines and earthmoving machinery · Experience with hydraulic systems and auto-electrical knowledge preferred · Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams · Basic gas cutting, welding and lathe experience · Medically fit and able to work in confined spaces, heights and manage heavy loads Please note: The job incumbent will be required to work overtime and weekends during peak season and as required.
