Reference: CPT000531-DB-1Exciting job opportunity at a fast-growing fruit export company as a Junior Fruit Evaluation Assistant to join their busy and driven team based in Stellenbosch. R15k - R18k pm CTC | Permanent | Onsite | Stellenbosch Responsibilities: Harvest and evaluation of new and existing pome, stone, and citrus fruit selections in orchards. Assistance with breeding and crosses. Maintain and update tree markers in orchards. Update orchard block plan in field and on Excel. Assist in the evaluation process of new pome, stone, and citrus selections in lab. Assistance in the planting of new selection seedlings (handling seeds and transport to nursery). Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in agriculture or related field will be advantageous. Passion for fruits and agriculture, with a keen interest in learning about fruit quality evaluation. Strong attention to detail and ability to differentiate between subtle differences in fruit attributes. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping on a mobile app. Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings during peak seasons. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able to do physical work outside (harvesting, carrying boxes, crates) in summer and winter months. Must be proficient in both Afrikaans and English to communicate with farmers.
