EAST COAST RADIO has a highly exciting opportunity available We are searching for a Sound Engineer to join our vibrant and dynamic team. The main purpose of the position is to produce audio for the station inline with brand strategy and clients requirements. Job Title: Sound Engineer Location: Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa Reference : ECRSOUENG01 Contract Type: Permanent Salary: Market Related Job Summary: Produce and manage the sound of the Drive show for the station and related on-air Production. Coordinating; podcasts, supervising Voice artists as well as required presenters. To record and produce content features, interviews and imaging where required for specific shows. CONTENT CREATION: •Manage the studio equipment by, checking and testing the equipment, proving feedback to the technical department of any technical issues to support recording activities daily •Manage the recordings by organising all required logistics, coaching of Voice Artist/Presenter, directing the artist and quality controlling the final product daily. •Load the audio for play out by, finalising the audio by submitting to relevant individual for authorisation and securing authorisation daily •Prepare post campaign analysis by extracting and collating on-air audio into a final product and submitting to relevant individuals as & when required •Oversee the recording session and produce the features, or interviews by agreed deadlines •Ensure the production of the audio is in line with the stations sound •Seek necessary approval before the audio is loaded for play-out •Create and update production elements for content moments (incl. Stagers, Feature Imaging etc) – Liaise with Station Imager •Refresh show sweeps/stings quarterly, identifying characteristics of the team – need to mirror the show DNA (to be updated every 3 months) – Liaise with Station Imager CONTENT CREATION MANAGEMENT: •Provide technical input by identifying areas of improvement and engaging with team members to improve quality of output daily •Resolve issues by identifying the problem and identifying solutions •Manage all interviews and features and post show promos for the shows as and when required – this is usually daily •Ensures all produced material matches the station’s identity and is in line with the personality of the presenter •Keeps abreast of latest production tools and trends in radio production. Daily: •Ensure all recorded show material is loaded ahead of the Drive show starting at 4pm. •Produce adhoc material for the show as the Drive show airs, in accordance to the host and executive producer requirements and time frames. •Ensure all post show promos, sweeps and liners are produced by 19h15 to 19h30pm – any liners/ sweepers needed by the Drive team to be done for that days flighting. •Produce and/ or supply beds and stagers to improve on-air moments. •Once the show has started, continually monitor the flow of the show in terms of all the schedules including promos, ads, music, mentions etc; and advise on material. •Record and produce interviews that may happen within or outside of the Drive show airing times. Answer calls and, if necessary, record and edit them; •Record and edit any programme inserts – such as interviews, features or timely inserts or songs – together with the host, suggesting possible questions, topics and directions for the creative. •Be available for the pre or post show meeting with the Programming manager daily and be available for a once every two weeks meeting with the Production Manager Weekly: •Produce all show promos including those of a national or direct client as per the requirements from the Production Manager. These promos must be produced and submitted for client approval before airing. •Ensure all weekend post show promos, sweeps and liners are produced by 20h00 for the days flighting. •Ensure all Drive show on-air moments are archived and catalogued for easy reference and submission or client request where necessary •Be available to record off site interviews, stunts or audio necessary for the success of the Drive Show. General Production: •Attend to any requests from Executive Producer, Production Manager, Production Coordinator/Manager, Programming Manager, Sales Manager/s and the Station General Manager ADMINISTRATION AND REPORTING: •Participates as a member of the production team meetings by preparing the relevant input and submitting •Accurate reporting skills •Strong Administrative Skills •Assist by mentoring production intern to improve their production quality, skills & knowledge Requirements Educational Requirements: •Grade 12 •Diploma/ Degree in Sound Engineering or similar •Pro Tools certificate •Valid Driver’s License (preferable) Skills/Experience Requirements: •Good knowledge of production software and latest developments in the field. •At least 2 years recording studio experience, preferably in radio environment •Understanding of radio. •Attention to detail. •Work in high pressure environment with quick turn-around time. Knowledge Requirements: •Knowledge of audio software, including Pro Tools •Basic radio and media landscape knowledge •Basic knowledge of Mac computer systems •Full understanding and knowledge of recording studio equipment inclusive of most technologies •Broad general knowledge and general computer literacy (MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook) To Apply: Click Here Application Deadline: 28/04/2021 Apply Now
