WSP is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Lead Engineer (Principal) within our C&I department. This is a full-time opportunity based in Midrand. The primary responsibilities for this role encompass managing the C&I team, overseeing engineering designs, financial planning, resource planning and driving business development initiatives. The ideal candidate should possess the ability to independently lead projects while also demonstrating proficiency in managing and supporting the team throughout various project phases. Key Responsibilities: Function as the Lead Engineer overseeing and guiding the C&I team. Formulate detailed C&I designs, processes and procedures, ensuring adherence by the engineering staff. Propose budgets, establish timelines for C&I projects and collaborate with other engineering disciplines to present a complete solution to the client Validate and ensure the quality of work and methodologies employed by the C&I team Monitor and assess various staffing and training requirements. Initiate and lead efforts to identify opportunities for new projects and enhanced processes. Develop and deliver comprehensive C&I project presentations, both internally and externally. Manage the timely completion of deliverables for various tenders. Contribute to establishing a work environment that promotes safety, value, and motivation for all, aligning with company policies and procedures, including those related to equality and diversity. Provide project and staff status reports to the Divisional Director. Ensure strict compliance with all quality, safety, health, environment, and legal policies and procedures. Develop PLC/DCS systems designs. Formulate SCADA/HMI systems designs. Create designs for industrial networks, encompassing fiber optic, TCP, and serial connectivity. Develop designs for integration with 3rd party controllers through OPC/API interfaces. Evaluate contractor performance and ensure quality standards are met. Oversee commissioning quality assurance and conduct inspections. Health and Safety: Role model standards for SHEQ performance and behaviour consistent with the company's health, safety, environmental and quality vision and policies by influencing those around you. Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm Embracing, displaying and promoting the company values and ensuring a safe working environment is maintained at all times. Qualifications BEng/BSc/BTech degree in Electrical Engineering Registered as a Professional Engineer or Technologist ECSA Minimum 6 years of experience in C&I engineering. 3-5years of experience in an Engineering Lead role. Project management, including budgeting, cost estimating, scheduling and resource planning is advantageous. Familiarity with general industry standards, such as SANS 10142, ANSI 5.1, etc. Understanding of various contracts, including GCC, NEC, JBCC, FIDIC. Experience with AutoCAD/Revit. Proficient in BIM360/ACC/ProjectWise. In-depth knowledge of various PLC/DCS systems. Comprehensive knowledge of various SCADA/HMI systems. Key Competencies and Generic Skills: Leadership and management skills - with the ability to motivate others. Strong problem-solving skills Effective communication skills (written & verbal) Excellent time management skills Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office.
