Lead Mechanical Design Engineer - Cape Town City Centre
Job Description:
Interface with customers to prioritize design resources and delegate tasks to engineering personnel
Direct and guide design engineers on technical issues, ensuring compliance with customer and engineering standards
Manage project timelines, communicate non-compliance, and take responsibility for the technical soundness of designs
Lead internal and external design reviews with customers and suppliers
Perform CAD design, including 3D modeling, 2D drawings, and bill of materials maintenance
Work within the customer's PDM system and manage the product sales option matrix
Provide production support for custom order engineering requests
Skills & Experience:
7-10 years of design experience (non-negotiable)
Available to travel internationally when required
Exceptional planning and leadership skills with a keen attention to detail
Proficient in task management, adept at handling pressure and adapting to priority changes
Passionate about CAD design
Excellent English communication and computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Qualification:
BEng/BSc/BTech degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
South African Citizenship
Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
