POSITION OVERVIEW The Learning and Engagement Coordinator position acts as a training and development liaison. The Learning and Engagement Coordinator will facilitate the organisation's initiatives across its global programs. They will provide expertise in the design, program performance management, leadership and all aspects of program learning, development, and implementation goals. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND QUALITIES 3 years’ experience in a related role A bachelor’s degree in education or related (project management certificate is a plus) Experience in designing and delivering learning and development initiatives using a range of methodologies. Strong administrative and planning skills. Experience in managing training and development. The ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to manage time and multiple projects concurrently and effectively. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively. Ability to think strategically and practically, bringing fresh insights and new ideas to the table. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, taking the initiative where necessary to resolve problems effectively. High proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or other productivity software. Ability to manage and mitigate risk in practical situations. Ability to achieve detailed project activities whilst maintaining an overview of overall project learning outcomes. Stakeholder management Experience in educational programming for youth-specific (e.g., summer camp, after-school programs, outdoor/adventure programs) Passionate about youth development, Africa, global citizenship, entrepreneurship, and/or leadership. Must have a car with a South African or international driver’s license”. First-aid trained or certified, preferred. A plus in speaking Portuguese, French, or Arabic. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Work closely with the other departments to co-create, oversee, and implement an updated Learning and Engagement strategy. Oversee and implement monitoring & evaluation, and impact framework. Produce and contribute to project reports and applications for/to funders and stakeholders. Provide expertise in strategy development and execution, planning and facilitation of training programs. Conduct needs assessments for training and development to enhance the effectiveness of program performance in achieving the organizational global goals and objectives. Design development and training programs, including learning activities, materials, and lesson plans in line with stakeholder needs. Review evaluations of training courses, objectives, and accomplishments. Assesses the effectiveness of program delivery in line with objectives and performance. Identifies/incorporates best practices and lessons learned into program plans. Support the development of new and unique ways to improve the efficiency of global program operations. Liaise with diverse stakeholders (professional educators, young leaders, schools, corporate institutions, and NGOs) Work with the Head of Short Programs, attend and prepare presentations, for funder meetings or events, as required. Ensure that accurate data is reported in quarterly and annual reporting to all funding and partner organisations taking place timeously. Logistical and administrative support of events and activities. Create and execute participant/stakeholder recruitment strategies. Actively contribute to programmatic content creation and program reviewing process. Capacity build within all ongoing program planning, revision, implementation, and evaluation of all Program activities as necessary. Lead monitoring and evaluation tasks to measure programmatic and activity coordination success. Actively support the Head of Short Programs to achieve programmatic targets and deliverables. WORKDAYS ALA is a five-day workweek, and our camps take place over the winter period. Working hours range from 07:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday.
