Medical Aid rate based on principal member only) To be confirmed Advert Closing Date 31/3/2024 Job Purpose To support the faculty and department in pursuit of its academic and research objectives which include to: teach according to a set syllabus; undertake research and innovation; contribute to curriculum development and design; engage in work integrated learning, and develop service learning activities. To facilitate teaching and learning in the Media Department and in the Post-Graduate Diploma and Master’s in Communication and Media qualifications in particular. Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience A Master’s degree in Media Studies/Communication or closest related qualification such as Film, Photography, Journalism etc. that has an underpinning of Communication theory. At least two (2) years’ relevant teaching experience in Higher Education Recommendations: Substantive knowledge of the theory of Communication Science and Media Studies Substantive experience of the standards and practices in the Media and Communications industry. Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities Teach and assess Media Leadership, Media Innovation Management, Managing Communication Strategy, Positioning Organisational Relationships, Communication and Media Practice and/or Research Methodology Participate in curriculum development Develop and Co-ordinate project-based learning in the programme and across the Media Department Perform appropriate academic and administrative duties (including the effective Management of Marks Administration) Participate in the Quality Assurance activities of the Department Participate in research Contribute to community initiatives by integrating community interventions into curriculum.
