Department University of Venda -> Vice Chancellor and Principal -> Deputy Vice Chancellor: Teaching and Learning -> School of Education -> Early Childhood Education Job Title LECTURER NGAP (PHASE 9) FOUNDATION MATHEMATICS(EARLY CHILDHOOD) Post Level Lecturer Job Type Academic - Donor Funded Closing Date Job Requirements FACULTY OF HUMANITIES, SOCIAL SCIENCES AND EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION LECTURER nGAP (REF: N606) The University of Venda seeks to fill a Lecturer position in the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP), a programme initiated by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as a component of the Staffing South Africa’s Universities Framework( SSAUF). nGAP Lecturer will be appointed on the university's staff establishment as permanent staff at the outset of employment, subject to satisfactory performance. The nGAP involves the recruitment, support, and retention of highly capable young scholars as new academics in the above-mentioned discipline. The nGAP Programme provides a wonderful supporting environment for aspirant academics to complete their studies while developing teaching and learning, research, and innovation as well as community engagement skills. The following generic criteria are applicable: Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, the dissertation must be on Foundation Phase Mathematics. The undergraduate qualification MUST be in Foundation Phase (Grade R – 3) / Master's degree in Mathematics Education with an undergraduate qualification in Foundation Phase. The candidate should be a teacher by profession certified by South African Council for Educators (SACE). The candidate should have teaching qualification. An average percentage of at least 70%.• Interest in becoming an academic • Be 40 years or younger • Evidence of eligibility to undertake postgraduate study at a Doctoral level • Willingness to commit to placement at the University of Venda for the full 6 years of the programme • Commit to registering for doctoral studies within 3 months of taking up the nGAP appointment and completion of doctoral degree in the relevant field of specialization during the first 3 years of employment as an nGAP Lecturer. Duties: • Lecture students at undergraduate and postgraduate level • Initiate and be involved in community engagement initiatives • Curriculum and programme development • Setting and assessment of exam papers and assessing portfolio of evidence • Supervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and undertake research• Involvement in departmental research and publications• Assist with administrative duties in the department and/or Faculty • Attendance of developmental workshops for teaching and learning• Participation in tutoring and mentoring activities• Participation in all components and activities of the nGAP programme for the duration of the contract• Apply Now
