Lecturer Pharmacy Health Sciences - South Africa

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB


To facilitate the learning process and acquisition of knowledge and skills in pharmaceutical chemistry and/or pharmaceutics by undergraduate pharmacy students in order for them to function effectively within the field of Pharmacy. To conduct and lead research, facilitate the acquisition of research knowledge and skills amongst undergraduate and postgraduate students. To contribute to community engagement and to be involved in the core functions of the University.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
ï‚· To lecture Pharmaceutical Chemistrymodules within the Pharmacy programme
ï‚· To assess student performance inmodule(s) taught and other assessments whenever needed in the Department
ï‚· To conduct, publish and promote research in Pharmacy
ï‚· To be involved in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes
ï‚· To be involved in community engagement programs
ï‚· To perform other administrative duties as designated by the Head of the Discipline/Department.

CORE COMPETENCIES
ï‚· An in-depth knowledge in the theory of pharmaceutical chemistry.
ï‚· Experience in facilitating at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, learning and teaching and in the development of curricula and learning material in pharmaceutical chemistry.
ï‚· Initiation and management of research projects in pharmaceutical chemistry
ï‚· Application for and administration of research grants.
ï‚· Potential to contribute to pharmacy profession/stakeholder liaison and networking.
ï‚· Good computer skills.
ï‚· Knowledge and implementation of, or an ability for, facilitation using blended learning methods
ï‚· Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
ï‚· Strong interpersonal and communication skills


REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor of Pharmacy and a relevant Masters degree in pharmaceutical chemistry.
Registration
Registration as a pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
Experience
Two years experience lecturing undergraduate pharmacy students in pharmaceutical chemistry
Added advantages
ï‚·Has the potential to contribute to the creation of knowledge by virtue of publications and the successfulinitiation and supervision of research projects, including Masters studies
ï‚·Has the potential to contribute to the creation of knowledge by involvement inrelevant engagement/consulting activities
ï‚·A background in clinical pharmacy will be an added advantage Please note that no late applicationswill be accepted
