Our client in the Insurance Industry has a vacancy for a Legal & Compliance Officer. Key responsibilities Ensure regulatory compliance as well compliance with internal & external audits. Assume responsibility for the drafting, vetting and centralised management of all contracts that bind the company, including the contractual relationships of the company’s agencies (referred to as Underwriting Managers). Knowledge of Acts – understanding of all relevant acts that affect the company, communication of legislative changes and impact to all stakeholders and ensuring legislative compliance. Implementation of regulatory risk management controls; i.e. the drafting of relevant policies, risk registers as well as , stakeholder training to ensure compliance. Handle correspondence, collate information, write reports and communicate decisions to relevant company stakeholders Qualifications required Degree in Law (Admitted Attorney); Certificate in Compliance or Risk Management (Advantage). Min 2 years’ experience in drafting and interpreting contracts; Minimum 2 years’ experience in Risk Management; Knowledge of insurance business and practices; Sound knowledge of current and incoming developments in the marketplace; Good understanding of relevant legislation.
