This position involves expediting and tracking orders, coordinating with suppliers and internal departments, and ensuring timely delivery of materials and products. The Expeditor / Junior Logistics Controller assists in maintaining inventory levels, optimizing transportation routes, and resolving logistical issues to meet customer requirements and organizational goals. Expedite and track purchase orders, shipments, and deliveries to ensure on-time arrival of materials and products. Communicate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and transportation carriers to coordinate logistics activities and resolve shipment-related issues. Monitor inventory levels and stock availability to support production schedules and customer orders. Assist in the optimization of transportation routes and freight consolidation to minimize costs and improve efficiency. Generate and maintain accurate records, including shipping documents, inventory reports, and delivery confirmations. Coordinate with internal departments, including procurement, production, and warehouse teams, to facilitate smooth logistics operations. Collaborate with customs brokers and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with import/export regulations and documentation requirements. Identify and escalate potential supply chain disruptions or inventory shortages to senior logistics personnel for resolution. Assist in the implementation of process improvements and technology solutions to enhance logistical efficiency and accuracy. Provide support to senior logistics controllers in analyzing data, identifying trends, and making recommendations for optimization of logistics processes. Grade 12 (NSC) or equivalent qualification. A degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field will be advantageous. Previous experience in a logistics, supply chain, or procurement role is advantageous but not required for entry-level positions. Basic understanding of logistics principles, transportation modes, and inventory management concepts. Proficiency in using computer software and applications, including MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and logistics management systems. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to accurately track and manage multiple shipments and orders simultaneously. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with suppliers, colleagues, and other stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines. Willingness to learn and develop new skills in logistics operations, supply chain management, and related areas. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by business needs.
