A leading manufacturer of piping systems is looking for a Maintenance Technician to join their team based in Boksburg, Gauteng. R90 per hour. Basic hours per month are 176. Technicians work 2 weekends a month and above that about 30 hours of week overtime. MEIBC Role and Responsibilities 1. Electro-mechanical installation, repair, and maintenance of machinery and equipment in and around the plant. 2. Must be a good communicator and be consistent with feedback and reporting to the management team regarding maintenance requirements of all machinery and equipment, in and around the plant. 3. Ensure continuous supply of spares to ensure there are no disruptions to production. 4. Always notify management of critical spares required which need to be in stock to reduce downtime. 5. Manage all breakdowns with minimum downtime. 6. Do regular preventative maintenance to minimize downtime. 7. Implement maintenance programs as set out by management. 8. Assist with the implementation and management of health and safety. 9. Assist maintenance staff. 10. Identify faults in equipment and machinery in and around the plant. 11. Ensure all equipment installations comply with the OHS Act. 12. Manage all new installation projects. 13. Provide management with a daily report detailing breakdowns attended to. Provide details such as: The affected equipment/machine, the issue/cause of breakdown, and what has been done to resolve the issue. 14. Provide management with feedback on the general condition of all equipment. 15. Housekeeping. Health & safety 1. Do all repair and maintenance work with the necessary safety gear i.e. gloves, safety glasses, earplugs, and PPE suitable and applicable to the situation. 2. Ensure that electrical circuits are switched off and are not “LIVE” before attempting to replace faulty electrical components for example contactors, circuit breakers, relays, etc. 3. Take extreme care when faulty electrical components need to be replaced whilst an extrusion line or machine is running and it is impossible to switch off all the “LIVE” electrical circuits. Additional Notes - SAFETY 1) The majority of your working time will be spent inside and during this time, you will be exposed to raw material elements and health hazards caused by operational requirements. 2) You will conform to the rules and regulations concerning Health, Safety, and Environmental aspects, as specified by the company. 3) It is essential that you carry out your duties in a clean and tidy working environment to minimize the risk of being injured by potentially dangerous objects and/or situations, which may cause an injury to the incumbent and/or to other employees. 4) The company will provide all the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE). 5) In the event of an injury, you shall report it immediately to management and/or your supervisor & to your safety representative. The latter will treat or refer the matter to, if deemed necessary, to the authorized personnel for hospitalization. NOTE : This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
