The main purpose of a Refeinery Manage is to manage and co-ordinate effectively the day-to-day operation of the production department (people, plant, process and systems) to ensure maximum utilisation, efficiency, quality and output. To ensure compliance in terms of ISO 9002, 14000, OSHAS 18000 and ISO 22000. This role supports the operational strategy by ensuring that product is produced according to the DIFOTIS principle to meet customer requirements. Plant utilisation is maintained at high level at all times. Plant downtime is minimised through cordial interaction with all relevant role players such as engineering, logistics, administration, quality control and all identified external customers. Key Outputs Financial Achieve production targets and gives input into budgeting targets Proactively follow up on reported process deviations including assisting with training of operating personnel on technical aspect of production activities. Keep an excellent compliance record on all ISO aspects relating to quality, safety, and environment and associated risk control measures. People Communicates and collaborates effectively with others on plant concerns. Proactively builds professional relationships within and across teams. Discuss budgetary constraints with operating personnel. Coaching and mentoring of Supervisors and operators Ensure that employment equity goals are met Ensure that performance reviews are conducted and areas of concern addressed. Business Processes Ensures plant effectiveness by making sure that critical process checks are carried out. Report and act on observed plant anomalies. Adjust operation parameters as and when advised by Works Manager, process Engineering Manager and Mechanical Engineering Manager. Ensure that quality standards are maintained and adhered to at all time. Ensure that process validation on all process streams is conducted and variable costs are maintained. Offer technical training to new recruits and retraining of operating personnel. Assist with ISO 9000 to 22000 compliance initiatives. Assist with project conceptualisation and implementation Customers Demonstrates understanding of internal and external customer needs, expectations and delivers accordingly Assist with new product development processes Attend to both external and internal customer expectations. Sustainability Works in a way to ensure compliance with safety, health, environment and community legislation. Complies with workplace policies, procedures and work instructions. Ensure that yield recovery plans and product loss control initiatives are in place and executed immediately. Qualifications · Diploma/Degree: Chemical Engineering/ Food Technology / Analytical Chemistry/Management qualifications. Knowledge · Product, Processes and Human conduct Experience · 5 years' experiential exposure to wet milling/food manufacturing industry and people management.
