Kumba Iron Ore We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape. Job Description -As Manager Mining you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to: Managing a safe and healthy work environment where employees, including contractors, can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment. Defining and implementing the mining engineering strategies, including best practices. Ensuring alignment with Business strategy to contribute to the achievement of outcomes. Aligning with Group on Mining Strategy, as they relate to RDPs and LOAPs Directing the development of, and providing oversight and assurance on, policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance. Providing support, advice, and oversight for operational excellence to ensure customer satisfaction. Identifying, implement, and provide technical advice, support and reviews to various project teams where required to ensure achievement of project objectives. Managing sustainability activities, integrate Sustainable Mining Plan commitments into discipline's 5-year plan, ensure sufficient resources, support site-specific integration, comply with environmental and social requirements, identify risks, translate opportunities, and foster awareness of sustainability within discipline for effective decision making. Supporting effective team processes, setting clear expectations, encourage team challenges, and ensuring discipline-specific systems, symbols, and behaviors reinforce desired culture. Leading compliance of the discipline with external (legislative, regulatory, permitting) local requirements This role is in the Mining (MIN) Discipline at a Band 5 level reporting to Head of Technical & Projects. Qualifications -Postgraduate degree in Mining Engineering Master’s Degree in Business Administration SA Drivers License Experience Solid operational background. Knowledge of Anglo-American Integrated Planning Process (IPP) and how it interfaces with mining. Knowledge of tender processes, contract administration and financial progress monitoring. Experience in a management position, including successful strategic management of a large sub-functional team. Knowledge of safety and risk management processes. Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
