Boston City Campus has a number of vacancies for Academic & Quality Managers with CA(SA) credentials in the distance mode of provision for its SAICA-accredited Bachelor of Accounting degree. These positions are based at the Stellenbosch academic head office. The disciplines in which we require Educators are: Strategy and Governance to create sustainable value Stewardship of Capitals: Business Processes and Risk Management Decision-making to increase, decrease or transform capitals Reporting on Value Creation Tax Governance and Compliance Assurance and related services Module Management To support, guide, provide oversight, monitor and quality assure viz a vis the Educators' facilitation of the learning and teaching of specifically allocated modules according to the syllabi congruent with the programme. Responsible for the adherence to the published academic and operational calendars and timetables for each semester. Management of the Educators' uploads of quality assured teaching, learning and assessment collateral to the learner management system. Oversight of the Educators' responses to student queries either via the learner management system, via email, or telephonically. Timeous responses to student queries and appeals on the learner management and administrative systems and in your email inbox and/or telephonic messages. Student & Academic Staff Support Be committed and available to support students, educators and staff consistently and timeously. Ensure that relevant Boston policies and procedures are accurately and consistently implemented. Teaching and Learning Ensure that the teaching, learning and assessment strategy for the module/s is aligned to the programme's intentions (i.e. purpose, rationale, exit level outcomes, etc) and to the Institution's pedagogical approach, as well as policies on teaching, learning and assessment. Learning Material Development You are responsible for the processes of timeous planning, briefing and variance monitoring of material development including quality assurance of the learning material produced for use in the learning engagement with students. Administration Managing the process of the grading and moderation of all assessment events by the educators/graders/moderators on the modules you are responsible for (formative, summative and all supplementaries) as per the academic calendar. Regular meeting with the educators and programme co-ordinators on the modules for which you are responsible. These meetings might take various forms depending on the academic and operational requirements at the time. Administration of grades after the completion of assessment events (formative, summative and supplementary - according to the academic calendar). Provide relevant information as required to the programme coordinator. Quality Assurance and Moderation Co-ordination/management of the internal and external moderation processes as required including the appointment of external moderators and examiners as required. Facilitate and/or participate in internal developmental workshops toward the enhanced quality of our provision of learning, teaching, assessment and student support. Involvement in the syllabus and curriculum design, development and review process and the updating of existing syllabi and curricula. Provision of analyses of data for the purpose of module evaluations using appropriate tools. Collection of relevant data using appropriate tools for the purpose of module reviews and programme evaluations. Completion of module reviews at the conclusion of the module or as required, which are high level analyses of the module and its performance in the semester. Participation in the processes of programme evaluation and external reviews, cyclically or as required. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation of each module's performance, including the performance of the students registered for each module, as well as throughput data. Early identification of at-risk students and modules which are to be escalated to the Programme Co-ordinator and implementation of support interventions where required. Additional Responsibilities Provide intellectual leadership and take responsibility for line management in order to be supportive of educators in the accomplishment of the main objectives of the modules and to advise all/any staff when required on related policies. Regular reporting to your direct and indirect line managers. Regular attendance and participation in various committee meetings as part of the general administration of the academic project. Scholarly Activity Ongoing participation in and leading of scholarly activities including research, professional practice and continued professional development in your academic area of specialisation. Community Engagement Ongoing participation in and leading of community engagement endeavours as per the Institution's approach. Candidates are required to hold the professional registration for the CA(SA) credential. Additionally, a Master's Degree or studying towards a Master's Degree is an advantage. Candidates are required to have a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of academic experience at a higher education institution.
