Our client in the FMCG manufacturing sector is looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to serve as team leader on their fleet maintenance team. Reporting to the Fleet Maintenance Manager, the successful applicant will assume responsibility for the control of the wash bay and workshop. Assist drivers with pre-departure checks and address any complaints regarding trucks and trailers. Conduct routine maintenance checks, and prioritize and complete roadworthy repairs. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues across engine, transmission, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs and adhere to inspection and warranty procedures. Respond to email inquiries and maintain a clean and safe work environment. Ensure compliance with the company's safety, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Environmental Act regulations. Schedule fleet washes, monitor wash bay consumables, and manage stock control for parts and consumables. Handle administrative tasks such as ordering parts, obtaining quotations, and maintaining records of maintenance and repairs. Supervise the Wash Bay team, oversee daily trailer and truck services and repairs, attend breakdowns, and conduct diagnostics. Maintain and repair minor vehicle components including electrical wiring, pneumatic systems, and various repairs as needed. A minimum of Grade 12 and a Diesel Technician / Mechanic Trade Test (TRUCKS) Code 10 License (Code 14 - advantageous) Minimum of 5 years experience at a franchise truck dealership Computer literacy Electrical & Hydraulic knowledge and experience Clear criminal record, contactable references, and a stable work history Physically fit and able to handle the specific strenuous physical requirements of this function. Customer-focused and Passionate about excellent service Experience in performing the following tasks will be advantageous in the application: Major Services, Engine removal/replacement, Engine Strip/Assembly, Gearbox removal/replacement, Maintenance of Braking, Steering and Suspension systems.
