Mechanical Draughtsman/ Design Draughtsman - Heidelberg
A leading body and trailer manufacturer based in Heidelberg, Gauteng, is currently seeking a talented Mechanical Draughtsman/Design Draughtsman to join their team. With a focus on delivering high-quality products to various industries, this company is dedicated to innovation and excellence in engineering.
Purpose of Role:
The primary objective of this role is to produce technical drawings aligned with customer and contract specifications. Working closely with project technicians and engineers, the incumbent will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient document distribution and maintaining an organized archiving system.
Responsibilities:
- Perform design calculations and selections for body and trailer components.
- Create detailed component designs, including material properties, clearances, and tolerances.
- Generate customer-related drawings such as general arrangements, structural layouts, and piping diagrams.
- Redraw and create 3D models and assemblies based on 2D drawings.
- Update drawings as per revised specifications or changing engineering requirements.
- Maintain drawing office systems and procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments, including Sales, Projects, and Workshops.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Assist colleagues with daily tasks as required.
- Fulfill other reasonable duties delegated from time to time.
Education:
- National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Draughtsman Diploma/Certificate.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in body and trailer manufacturing.
- Understanding of machining techniques and geometric tolerancing.
- Exposure to mechanical, structural, and fabrication environments.
Requirements:
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective filing and archiving systems.
- General understanding of engineering specifications and codes.
- Familiarity with draughting principles.
- Strong computer literacy.
- Proficiency in CAD, AutoCAD, Inventor 3D, or similar software packages.
