VACANCY NOTIFICATION Position: Mobile Equipment Operator (Crane Operator) Location: Tshipi é Ntle Manganese Mining, Kathu, Northern Cape VACANY STATUS PUBLISHED DATE 28 February 2024 CLOSING DATE 08 March 2024 POSITION DESCRIPTION Mobile Equipment Operator (Crane Operator) PATTERSON GRADING B LOWER REPORTING TO Mechanical Foreman DIRECT REPORTS N/A PURPOSE OF THE JOB Operates Grove 55- and 60-ton mobile cranes, as well as telescopic boom handler, cherry picker and other equipment to ensure optimum execution of maintenance activities, business objectives and customer requirements. Ensures that all equipment is always in safe and effective working order. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Financial Perspective: Financial effectiveness 1. Considers costs and suggests cost saving ideas. 2. Escalates risks to responsible foreman. 3. Follows standard operating procedures to prevent losses and damages. Internal Business Process Perspective: Operates and maintains mobile equipment. 1. Operates mobile lifting machines in a safe and effective manner to ensure optimum execution of maintenance activities. 2. Adheres to mine policies and procedures and follows supervisor instructions. 3. Escalates issues and problems where necessary to ensure: Employee/ contractor safety; Prevention of loss or damage to equipment and machinery. 4. Operates mobile equipment and machinery safely and responsibly according to standard operating procedures. People Perspective: Personal Development 1. Manages own performance in terms of agreed outputs. 2. Identifying performance and training gaps and discussing ways of cross-skilling and upskilling. 3. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Grade 12 Valid driver’s license Valid Mobile Crane Certificate Relevant Mobile Crane Operator experience. Valid telescopic boom handler certificate, Crane mounted crane certificate and cherry picker certificate as well as well as the relevant experience in the will be an advantage. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED Up to 3 years’ experience operating mobile crane. Constantly works towards continued improvement. Communication skills. Good team-worker.
