National Sales Manager: Retail - Bellville

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced National Sales Manager to oversee and manage all sales activities on a national scale. This individual will play a critical role in planning, implementing, and executing sales strategies to achieve company objectives across the entire sales network.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve sales targets and expand market share nationwide.
  • Team Management: Manage and lead a team of area managers, sales representatives, and external service providers to ensure effective execution of sales activities.
  • Operational Sales Management: Oversee operational sales functions including managing agents, sales reps, and other sales-related operations.
  • Retailer Engagement: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key retailers and ensure thorough understanding and utilisation of all retailer portals.
  • Data Analysis: Extract, analyse, and utilize data from retailer portals to drive sales strategies, implement improvements, and optimize performance.
  • Key Account Management: Work closely with key accounts, providing support and guidance to ensure successful management and growth.
  • Reporting: Provide regular and accurate reporting on sales performance, market trends, and competitor activities to senior management.
  • Implementation of Initiatives: Implement initiatives to improve sales processes, optimise resources, and enhance overall sales efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for the sales team to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • Budget Management: Manage sales budgets effectively, monitoring expenses and ensuring alignment with company objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales management within the FMCG Foods industry on a national level.
  • Strong understanding of third-party merchandising companies and experience working with major retailers such as PnP, Spar, Shoprite etc.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel nationally as required.
