Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Network Configuration and Optimization:
- Planning, deployment and configuration of a range of layer 2 and 3 network elements like routers, switches, firewalls and VPNs
- Configuring of network devices, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points
- Responsible for all physical (network) infrastructure such as Data Cabling, Comms rooms including power to those devices
- Perform in-life management of network elements including hardware and software upgrades, security configuration and patching, and technology refresh
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
- Collaboration with 3rd party and vendor technical support where necessary
- Analyze and identify root causes of network anomalies and implement solutions to minimize downtime
- Network Monitoring and Performance Optimization:
- Utilize network monitoring tools to proactively monitor network performance
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks and security incidents in real time to maintain a robust network
- Network Security Implementation:
- Implementation of network security measures, including firewall rule management, intrusion detection, and prevention systems
- Assist in enforcing security protocols to safeguard data integrity and confidentiality
- Participate in network security practices, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of data
- Governance, Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed and organized network documentation
- Create and update network diagrams, record configurations, and develop procedural guidelines to ensure network transparency and consistency
- End-User Support:
- Provide technical support to end-users, addressing connectivity issues and ensuring a seamless network experience
- Be a go-to resource for the IT team, helping them make the most of network resources
Requirements:
- Matric
- Degree or Diploma in IT / Network Engineering
- Native level / fluency in English or at least C1 both verbal and written
- Minimum 3 5 years network experience in a BPO / call centre with a multivendor environment
- Minimum of Cisco CCNA or equivalent certification or experience working on Cisco equipment (advantageous)
- Extensive knowledge of implementing and managing Palo Alto firewalls (advantageous)
- Working knowledge with Cisco Meraki routers, switches and access points
- Detailed knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6, Routing protocols, client and Site-to-Site VPN, MPLS networks, DHCP, DNS, VLAN and VRF
- Strong experience with network security principles and approaches to best practice in a PCI-DSS and ISO 27001 environment
- Ability to resolve complex problems requiring innovative solutions and out-of-the-box thinking
- Ability to operate in a 24/7 environment and willing to work in flexible shift patterns
