Operations Manager - Johannesburg

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that debriefing and pre-briefing standards are adhered to
  • Maintain branch efficiencies
  • Ensure optimized staff utilization
  • Take full control and responsibility of all staff and their duties
  • Ensure all staff follows all company processes and procedures
  • Handling operational queries and problems timeously and efficiently
  • Ensure that Debriefers debrief thoroughly according to Debriefing Procedure
  • Ensure that Debriefers check vehicles thoroughly in the logbooks and report damages to Fleet Manager immediately
  • Ensure Customer service levels are met at all times
  • Full on Operational management

  • Customer Complaints

  • Tracking Reports
  • Staff Reporting
  • Where necessary train and develop staff
  • Telesales and Direct Sales Calls
  • Telesales are to be done on a regular basis to liaise with customer needs and follow up on current and potential hires
  • Sales calls are done regularly with the sales reps, ensure that 5 customers have been visited every week
  • Turndowns / Fleet Resources
  • Eliminate turndowns by ensuring correct utilizations and keep record of turndowns
  • Ensure that fleet resource requirements meet with the customer demand
  • Ensure that fleet resource requirement is met with the customer demand
  • Administration
  • Contracts
  • Control of contract is vitally important, ensure that no contract is mislaid or lost
  • Contracts must be completed in full, do audits on a regular basis
  • Ensure that the contracts filter through regularly to the debriefing department and admin department for closure
  • Ensure that contracts filed are in the correct files
  • Insurance group
  • Ensure that the housekeeping standards are of a high standard
  • Assist in operations as and when required
  • Handle any invoice queries that arise from time to time
  • From time to time visit the driver ablutions to ensure proper housekeeping
  • Do regular walks in the yard and workshop area

Minimum Requirement:
  • Grade 12
  • 5 years Management Experience in Operations within a Truck Rental industry

Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of all functions of logistics which will impact the entire organization
  • Knowledge of strategy pertaining to logistics
  • Knowledge of latest developments in the logistics field
  • Knowledge of logistic systems and techniques applicable across administration broad range of disciplines / functions in the organisation

Skills:
  • Able to develop and implement logistic systems and techniques which will impact on the organization as an administration whole
  • Able to manage all functions of logistics in the organization
  • Able to determine and develop logistic strategy for entire organisation
