Operations Manager (Meat Casing) - Cape Town City Centre

Our client is looking for an experienced and efficient Operations Manager to oversee their meat casing production and operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that production processes are efficient, cost-effective, and meet the highest standards of quality and safety. This role involves managing a dynamic team, optimizing production workflows, and collaborating with other departments to achieve the company's operational goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Production Management: Oversee the entire production process of meat casings, ensuring that products meet quality standards and production targets are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  • Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and manage production teams to ensure high levels of productivity and employee satisfaction. Conduct performance evaluations and provide training and development opportunities.

  • Process Improvement: Continuously analyze production processes and identify areas for improvement. Implement process enhancements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.

  • Supply Chain Coordination: Work closely with the supply chain team to ensure timely procurement of raw materials and manage inventory levels effectively.

  • Quality Control: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Oversee quality control processes to maintain the highest standards of product safety and quality.

  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the production budget, monitor operational expenses, and implement cost-saving measures.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and regulatory bodies. Ensure clear and effective communication across all levels of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Food Science, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a production or operations management role, preferably in the meat casing or related industry.

  • Proven track record of improving production processes and achieving operational excellence.

  • Knowledge of quality control standards and regulations relevant to the meat processing industry.

  • Experience in budget management and cost control.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with production management software.
