The project sizes exceed 5MW and cover a range of technologies, including wheeling. After several years of success in the renewable energy industry and hands on experience in several African countries, appointing successful bidders and bringing projects to financial close is second nature to you. With an embedded understanding of every technical detail of solar PV and BESS plants , including the grid compliance requirements for grid-tied projects. You are an expert in compiling and evaluating bids and have experience engaging with national utilities. RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as a technical expert in the Large Projects unit during the project development phase Collaborate with specialist technical expertise for larger projects when necessary (e.g., MV expertise, grid compliance expertise, structural engineers, etc.) Coordinate with the utility counterparty for on-grid power plants Act as the owner's engineer for outsourced, third-party EPC implementation. Engage with eligible EPCs to understand capacity and capabilities for relevant jurisdictions and develop closer partnerships Develop the overall technical project scope and project planning. Compile RFQs with technical specifications (including details from specialist expertise), project timelines, commercial framework, and payment milestones Manage bidders during the bidding period Request and oversee detailed design and project deliverables from the EPC during the mobilisation phase Manage the EPC contract in terms of project and payment milestones, ensuring equipment compliance with the support of the project manager SKILLS Systematic approach to problem solving Results-driven Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Embedded understanding of reputational issues Strong leadership EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelors degree in engineering field EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Experience managing multi-million Rand projects Successful track record of compiling technical bids, and evaluating and appointing EPC contracts Experience engaging with national utilities Exposure to international organisations across multiple geographic regions R700k - R1mil CTC per annum Apply Now
