Our client looks forward to receiving suitable applications for an experienced Children's & Young Families Pastor who is comfortable and accepting of Methodist theology and ethos. It is at the heart of the church to provide pastoral care and support to the children and young families with which we are in contact; this is achieved through one-on-one pastoral meetings, the running of workshops and connecting with the families. The individual must be dynamic and inspiring in their engagement with children and all types of families. The main objective of the role is to support the mission objectives of the society relating to children and families through ministerial, and administrative activities. The individual must have a deep love of children and a passion to lead and develop children-centred ministry. Excellent opportunity for a highly experienced CHILDREN & YOUNG FAMILIES PASTOR Friday and Sunday Ministries & Children and Young Families Portfolio Present through words, events, and activities of the church the love of God for children and demonstrate this love through a lived and vibrant faith journey Assist and facilitate children to respond to the love of God and find their place in God's Kingdom To provide vision and help develop, lead, communicate and manage the Church's strategy for Children (infants to Grade 7) and Young Families (parents from pre-birth to Grade 7 children), including mentoring of children in their faith journey. Develop a team-based ministry structure throughout the Children and Young Families Ministry by managing a pool of leaders to delegate to in order to develop them and enhance the experience for Children Develop teaching plans, lesson plans, engagement programmes and associated material to provide spiritual growth and bond the family in faith Organise weekly activities with leaders for Friday evenings and Children and Young Families on Sunday mornings Develop and expand Young Families' activities in the church Advocate the views and needs of Parents in the Church Camps and Other Activities Organise and coordinate camps and other events for Children and Youth Leadership Development Develop a programme and annual plan for leadership development Pastoral Responsibilties Pastoral Care Assist Pastoral Care Portfolio with home/hospital visits from time-to-time Be alert to, and involved in, counselling needs of Children and Young Families Safety & Care Safety & Care Ensure safety and security of children involved in Church activities through conducting a regular risk analysis, observing conduct and behaviour during children's and youth activities, and upholding the professional standards of ethics of your vocation. Meetings Attend several ministry related meetings per week, month and quarter, many of which take place on weekends and at night Other Administrative Duties Monitor membership and attendance of Children and Young Families activities, Attend retreats, Prepare lessons, Attend to emails Budgets Prepare and gain approval for budgets for Children and Young Families activities and other ad hoc budgets. Miscellaneous Responsibilities To assist with the delivery of worship services from time-to-time Be available to be a prayer steward when needed Facilitate children's and family involvement in appropriate Outreach projects Competencies and skills Love for children and Children's Ministries Mature and resilient Team player Administratively strong Counselling skills/certificate Able to navigate and respond appropriately in demanding and sometimes difficult church and social settings Education and Experience 5 years' experience as Children's pastor/youth leader Experience planning, running and leading Children's Ministry programmes Counselling Children certification or demonstrable experience Advantageous: Completed or studying towards a Theology Degree Teaching Degree, Diploma, or similar
