Payroll Assistant - Johannesburg

Job Overview: As part of our dedicated People Tribe, and in supporting the teams growth - we are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join us as a Payroll Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for accuracy and a keen interest in payroll processes to contribute to our finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing: Assist in the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees.

Data Entry: Enter and update employee information in the payroll system, ensuring completeness and accuracy. Timekeeping: Review and verify timecards for accuracy, addressing discrepancies as needed.

Record-keeping: Maintain organised and up-to-date payroll records, including earnings, deductions, and taxes.

Compliance: Stay informed about and adhere to relevant employment and tax regulations, making necessary adjustments to payroll processes.

Assistance with Inquiries: Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters, providing clear and helpful information. Collaboration: Work closely with the People team to ensure seamless integration between the People and payroll functions. Reporting: Generate and distribute payroll reports as required.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Payroll Administration

Support Payroll lead with the following payroll administration functions:

  • Cost to company preparations ; dummy payslips and offers
  • Time and attendance data and system management
  • Leave administration along with ESS
  • HR recording keeping
  • Long Service administration

Payroll Processing

Support Payroll lead with :

  • Vetting of payroll data and timesheets
  • Procerssing data into payroll. Adhere to Payroll SOP
  • Assist with preperations of Increases ; bonuses
  • Leave processing
  • Payroll reconciliation
  • Assist with preparation of Bank imports

Reporting

  • Assist with extraction and preperation of payroll reports
  • Knowledge of advanced EXCEL reporting tools suh as vlookups and Pivot tables

SARS Compliance

  • Assist with preparation and submission of EMP201 & EMP501

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB COMPETENTLY

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Matric
  • Tertiary education preferably in HR and or finance
  • Hands on experience in a payroll environment ,1 to 2 years min
  • SAGE 300 People software. Not negotiable
  • Certification in Payroll or related is a plus.
  • Proficiency in EXCEL will be advantageous
