Performance & Optimization Manager(Project Manager) - Johannesburg

• Collection, management, verification, and further analysis and evaluation of turbine SCADA data that is collected via various turbine systems. The purpose of the job is to identify technical issues affecting both turbine performance and the overall performance of the wind farm, to recommend solutions, and to review their effectiveness to support the broader optimization of wind farm performance. • Development of software tools and processes to quantify, analyze, and track wind farm performance including support to help early identification of potential turbine component failures. This includes continuous improvement in analysis using advanced analytical methods • Continuous improvement of technical expertise within the Performance Team and occasional development of bespoke software tools for the Engineering and site Operations Teams • Prepare and support the site-specific Monthly Reporting with regard to the mentioned scope • Derive timely and accurate operational performance KPIs • Identify, realize, and validate performance improvements. • Reliability test and power curve test analysis for newly operational sites • End of Warranty Analysis, Reviews, and Reporting by requirements of different sites • Engaging with third-party operational monitoring and performance analysis providers to manage data inputs, scope of service, deliverables, and achievement of desired results - including supporting asset managers in the actioning of any identified performance improvement opportunities. Requirements • Experience in successful project delivery and in managing client/external stakeholder relationships. Experience with renewable software tools/data, e.g. Greenbyte, Nispera, Windographer, PVsyst, OpenOA, OpenFAST, BrightWind, SCADA, MERRA2, ERA5, SolarGIS, or similar • Knowledge of turbine engineering and wind energy conversion • Knowledge of wind farm operations and wind farm SCADA systems • Good knowledge of Matlab, Python, or VBA programming is required • Commercial awareness, specifically the impact of turbine performance and technical decisions on the overall project economics • Good management skills including organizational ability, communication, team working, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills • Excellent communication skills - fluent in English. • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in engineering, physics, maths, meteorology, computing or similar • University degree in scientific subjects, physics, engineering, and/or mathematical studies (experience can outweigh this requirement)
