Pretoria Environmental Affairs: Control GIS Technicians (2 Positions) - South Africa

CONTROL GIS TECHNICIAN GRADE A REF NO: AP39/2013 SALARY : Appropriate salary will be determined according to the Regulatory framework based on OSD. CENTRE : North West (Brits), Gauteng (Pretoria) REQUIREMENTS : A 3-year Bachelor’s degree/National Diploma in Geography/Environmental Sciences/Cartography or an appropriate equivalent qualification with GIS as a major subject plus proven relevant extensive experience in natural resource management planning and implementation. Knowledge and experience (minimum 5 years) in relevant GIS work, innovative, problem solving, inter-personal and conflict management skills. Negotiation skills and the ability to work under pressure, long hours and travel extensively. Registration with PLATO and Computer literacy in Microsoft excel, access, PowerPoint, Word and GIS packages. DUTIES : The incumbent is expected Manage, maintain and monitor spatial and non-spatial database information system. Manage Information Systems and Data Management. Produce Annual Plans of Operations (APO). Ensure quality assurance of reports, monthly key performance indicators, and quarterly Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) reports. Oversee quality assurance of clearing contract generation and contract clearing summaries. Manage regional GIS functions and oversee the implementation of database and workflow system. Monitor and evaluate GIS operations and mapping in line with norms and standards. Compile monthly progress reports on contracts and related data. Provide Arial mapping support.
