Procurement Manager - Maldives - South Africa

One client is one of the fastest growing businesses in Maldives specializing in supply, storage and distribution of temperature-controlled food products such as meat, seafood, poultry, dry foods, vegetables and fruits of the highest quality from all over the world. They are looking for an experienced Purchasing Manager who will be responsible for the control of all purchases imported via both air and sea freight. The ideal candidate must have prior experience in both procurement and supply chain management in a warehousing and distribution business. They must also have experience in dealing with FMCG and Perishable goods in the above environment and have prior experience in handling and managing a team. The candidate must be driven, detailed oriented, quick and able to handle a large volume of work effectively and efficiently. The ideal candidate must be able to work 6 days a week, half a day on Saturday from 9-2pm and Sunday to Thursday 8.30 to 5.30pm with an hour for lunch. There also might be a need to work outside these office hours. This position will be based in Hulhumale in the Maldives. Please note that the Maldives is a dry country so alcoholic beverages are not available, as well as pork products. However, in terms of dress code it is not strictly Islamic. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following: Procurement of goods at competitive prices for the Maldivian market Working closely with the Business Development Managers in SA to ensure that any new goods introduced to Maldives are correctly priced. Management of rate of sale of stock Management of minimum order quantities Management of product forecasts and lead times Problem solving and Claim resolution. Managing market support Leading and managing a team in the purchasing department Desired Experience & Qualification A minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Procurement Manager in a FMCG or Perishable goods warehousing and distribution business. A minimum of 5 years work experience in managing a supply chain Lived and worked outside of South Africa A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting Experience dealing with the importation of goods via air and sea freight Knowledge of perishable products and experience in working with such produce in a supply chain setting Excellent experience in managing rate of sale vs minimum stock holdings Advanced Excel experience and knowledge Must understand exclusivity, pricing, route to market / value chain and claims process Excellent report writing skills Proven negotiation skills Proficiency in using CRM software and MS Office suite. Accommodation is the responsibility of the incumbent; however, the first month’s rental will be covered by the company.
