Production Planning Manager - Ottery, Cape Town - Ottery
A company in Cape Town is looking for a Production Planning Manager. Duties & Responsibilities Reporting to the General Manager of Manufacturing, the production planning manager will collaborate with sales, supply chain and production teams to analyse sales forecasts and customer orders to determine production requirements. Develop production plans and schedules to meet customer due dates while optimising resource utilisation and minimising costs. Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely procurement of raw materials and components needed for production. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure the availability of materials and finished products. Conduct regular capacity planning in conjunction with the Production Manager to ensure production capacity aligns with demand (considering our plans for growth). Identify potential bottlenecks, constraints, and risks in the planning process and develop strategies to mitigate them. Continuously monitor and analyse relevant data to identify areas for improvement and implement process improvements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, to ensure seamless execution of the production plan. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, reports, and documentation. Desired Experience & Qualification A university qualification in a relevant field such as supply chain management, logistics, or operations is required. Proven experience as a production planner or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment. Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant computer software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions. Exceptional attention to detail while being able to understand the big picture – this will enable you to understand why a result is important and lead with a plan to improve the process to deliver a better result (as opposed to just executing a process blindly). Solid understanding of production planning principles, inventory management, and supply chain processes. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Proactive mindset with a continuous improvement orientation. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and experience with ERP systems is a definite plus
