An exciting opportunity exists for you to join the SAOTA-ARRCC Resource Centre. The role of the Production Researcher is focused on supporting the Architectural Teams' project-based queries and providing support for the Resource Centre via varied tasks. Please note that the successful applicant must reside in Cape Town RESPONSIBILITIES Searching for the latest materials, technologies, and systems the industry has to offer in response to Architectural Project enquiries or instructions from Resource Centre seniors. o Show initiative in how you surface suitable and inventive solutions to queries globally. o Demonstrate a clear understanding of SAOTA-ARRCC's design aesthetic in sourcing suitable solutions. o Demonstrate competency with technical characteristics of products and systems surfaced globally. o Provide measured guidance in submissions proposed. o Be able to thrive in a fast-paced office environment. Be in touch with the latest architecture trends and surfacing that information to share with the Architectural Project teams. o Be familiar with the latest global architectural publications. o Share advice related to new materials and systems surfaced with the teams. Curating samples and information to add to the SAOTA-ARRCC library. o Contribute to the physical library's continuous development and refinement. o Demonstrate an understanding of products and systems added to the library. o Demonstrate excellent aesthetic judgement to assist with the careful curation of products. Help establish a network of SAOTA-approved suppliers/ manufacturers in strategic world regions. o Understand the importance of region-specific product/ system selection. o Show good judgment in terms of quality, suitability and the SAOTA_ARRCC design aesthetic of products when contributing to the library. o Contribute to the digital library's development and refinement. Perform topic-specific research. o On occasion, you will be requested to do research of a limited scope on topics related to the Architectural Teams' project-based queries. Design considerations and guidelines for certain aspects of architectural design. o Demonstrate good aesthetic judgement of projects when recommending product and system solutions. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND CRITERIA - Relevant Architectural qualification. - Minimum of 5 years' experience is essential. - Technical knowledge and experience with specifying architectural materials. - Technical understanding of architectural elements and systems, their limitations, and possibilities. - Ability to accurately understand and interpret instructions. - Ability to work within set criteria and document templates. - Clear ongoing communication with the Librarian. - Fluent in spoken and written English. Impeccable and concise communication skills, verbal and written. - Can perform work from home or at a hot desk in the office. - All Employees are required to have an uncapped 20Mbps (up/down) minimum Internet Connectivity line. ADVANTAGEOUS CRITERIA - Prior experience in dealing with Architectural Libraries is advantageous. - Prior work experience at SAOTA is advantageous. BEHAVIOURAL CRITERIA Able to demonstrate a high degree of professionalism. o Demonstrate advanced knowledge and provide reliable advice on material recommended. A keen interest in and love for architectural materials and technologies. o Demonstrate enthusiasm and inventiveness in sourcing solutions and presenting recommendations. Strong sense of responsibility and accountability. o Work diligently and be responsible to achieve objectives efficiently. o Take ownership of key requirements and be able to work unassisted. Efficient and resourceful. o A critical requirement is to 'work smart' and at a reasonable pace. Outgoing, dynamic, and self-motivated. o The role requires significant interpersonal skills. o Architectural teams need to feel heard, and engagements need to be positive, enthusiastic, and compelling. Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information. o Work responsibly and with adequate management of information. Demonstrate a can-do attitude and be proactive towards given tasks. o Demonstrate a keen drive and resourcefulness to limit time wasting and work efficiently to achieve objectives effortlessly. Meet with relevant specialists, manufacturers, and suppliers to obtain necessary information. o The role requires significant interpersonal skills. o Your role will include being an 'Ambassador' for the Resource Centre and SAOTA-ARRCC. Report to senior Architectural Researcher & Librarian when required. o Reporting is to be concise, focussed and the objectives of tasks are to be achieved effortlessly.
