Key Performance Areas: Responsible for managing end to end shift operations from cane receiving through to sugar despatch and including power generation. Optimize production performance, by holding teams accountable to achieve the highest standards of efficiencies and quality, maximising throughput and sugar recovery at lowest cost. Partner with finance to develop production budget and ensure production is managed within budget and achieves cost synergies. Achieve production targets aligned to the production plan S&OP targets. Maintain Laboratory best practice compliance and process assurance. Lead and manage shift teams effectively. Ensure the production teams fully leverage available support from within the factory and the group (HO and other countries) across all disciplines. Ensure talent development and performance management are embedded in local ways of working whilst leveraging support functions and resources to develop capability. Establish and lead a problem-solving approach throughout the production function to ensuring that appropriate techniques and tools are applied to effectively resolve issues. Model Leadership behaviours, collaborating, partnering and communicating effectively within and between teams and support functions. Promote a culture of consistently assessing risks and drive continuous improvement throughout operations. Identify and monitor KPIs to track performance and flag any issues. Promote and adhere to Illovo's procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC). Responsible for Statutory Requirements as may be delegated by Factory Manager. MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS AREAS Relevant Manufacturing Diploma, Btech, Degree (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Analytical, etc) 5 years in heavy Manufacturing (production and/or maintenance), with at least 2 years in sugar production Good business acumen and manufacturing expertise, with ability to anticipate, interpret and respond to changes impacting on functional area Strong track record in management and leadership Key Culture Attributes: Demonstrates the importance of safety, quality & teamwork effectively leads and communicates because our people matter.
