Reference: CPT002463-CDJ-1Our client based in Johannesburg is seeking a Production Team Leader to join their team. The purpose of the role would be to ensure manufacture of high-quality products, effectively supervising work on the shopfloor, ensure the good functioning of the production process with respect to production output, quality, daily planning, plant safety and environmental performance. To manage all factory related affairs that includes but not limited to strict adherence to the Company’s HSE standards, Manufacturing, Maintenance, manpower training & development. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Follow the company’s health and safety policies and procedures and instructions of the responsible supervisor and health and safety lead. Report and highlighting all potential hazardous situations Unsafe Acts and Unsafe conditions relating to the factory. Supervision and Leadership: Provide strong leadership and direction to the production team, including assigning tasks, setting expectations, and monitoring performance in liaison with the Production Supervisor. Production Planning: Collaborate with production managers and planners to execute the daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules, ensuring timely delivery of products. Quality Control: Ensure that all products meet quality standards and specifications through regular inspections and process monitoring as per Company’s corporate standards. Training and Development: Identify training needs and provide coaching and training to team members to improve their skills and knowledge. Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all team members as per the corporate and local safety policies. Actively participating in safety programs, initiatives, ensure that the standard operating procedures are followed and ensure safe housekeeping. Workflow Coordination: Coordinate workflow to optimize production efficiency, minimize downtime, and address bottlenecks or issues as they arise in liaison with the Production Supervisor. Resource Allocation: Manage resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet production targets as per the production plan. Problem Solving: Identify and resolve production-related problems and issues promptly, implementing corrective and preventive actions in liaison with the Production Supervisor. Inventory Management: Monitor and control raw materials as per the formula sheets or production batch cards. Documentation: Maintain accurate production records, including production reports, work orders, and safety inspection records. Continuous Improvement: Lead and support initiatives aimed at improving production processes, reducing raw material waste and spillages. Communication: Foster open communication within the team and collaborate with other departments such as planning, maintenance, quality control, warehouse, and logistics. Cost Control: Monitor the usage and allocations of PPE and raw materials to identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality. Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members, recognizing and addressing areas for improvement in liaison with the Production Supervisor. Adherence to Policies: Ensure that team members follow company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines consistently. Customer Focus: Maintain a customer-centric approach by striving to meet customer demands and delivering products on time and in compliance with quality standards. Ensure compliance with the maintenance standards and processes, for example but not limited to, the lock-out and tag-out system. Ensure that the forklift trucks and manufacturing plant are inspected, maintained daily, and address any deviations daily. Ensure that the team maintains the safe operating procedures around the shop floor, racking and the plant. Ensuring the availability of the safety data sheets to all the shop floor staff. Ensure accurate record of production input and output, and report all spillages. Report on the recycling of products, recovery of spillages and dust collector fines as and when required. Monitor cycle times and participate in improvement plans to achieve a better efficiency rating. Monitor the packaging line to improve on final product bag weight accuracy and reducing product give-away. Minimize overtime worked by team by continuously improving efficiency. Ensure minimum or NO non-conformities for semi-finished products, finished products, raw material and packaging and report any occurrences. Ensure inventory management best practises (like LILO and FIFO/LIFO, Demand forecasting, Buffer/Safety stocking and Batch tracking systems) are implemented and followed. Performs any other duties and responsibilities related to production assigned by the line manager. SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Knowledge on Good Manufacturing Practises, World Class Manufacturing and Lean manufacturing Basic knowledge of the Six sigma processes. Knowledge on factory and manufacturing HSE principles including people safety Knowledge on the ERP systems (production modules) and MS office Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be selected.
