We are currently recuiting for a Project Accountant - Engineering to join our dynamic team, based in Midrand. Position Purpose: We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Project Accountant to join our team. The Project Accountant will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial aspects of our engineering projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in an engineering company and experience in the day-to-day management and maintenance of financial and project related data in Vantagepoint. Proven experience and understanding of Earned Value and Project Management principles. Financial Management of Engineering Projects: Collaborate with project teams to establish project budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor project financial performance, including revenue recognition, cost control, and profitability analysis. Conduct regular financial reviews and provide insights to project managers for informed decision-making. Project Accounting and Reporting: Maintain project accounting records, including project setup, billing, and invoicing. Prepare accurate and timely project financial reports, including variance analysis and project performance metrics. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, contractual requirements, and company policies. Cost Management and Analysis: Track project costs and expenditures, analysing variances and identifying areas for improvement. Work closely with project managers to develop cost estimates, forecasts, and change orders. Implement cost control measures to optimize project profitability and minimize risks. Inform and work closely with Senior Accountant Cash / Payroll and Governance on the management of project information and reporting. Vantagepoint Monthly Maintenance: Will include, updating of staff information, cost and bill rate tables, annual update of public holidays and new financial periods including all related Vantagepoint system updates. Provide training and support to project teams on Vantagepoint. Collaborate with Operations, IT and finance teams to optimize Vantagepoint and address technical issues. Project Audit and Compliance: Support internal and external audits, providing documentation and explanations as required on all project related finances and processes. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and contractual obligations. Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with project stakeholders, vendors, and internal departments, to address project financial inquiries and resolve issues. Communicate project financial status and performance to management and project teams effectively. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 5 years of experience in project accounting or financial management, preferably in an engineering company. Proficiency in Vantagepoint software is a requirement. Strong understanding of engineering project lifecycle and terminology. Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Exceptional organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
