Project Engineer - - Johannesburg

As a Project Engineer specializing in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), you will play a key role in the successful implementation of BESS projects. Working closely with project managers, stakeholders, and engineering teams, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating various aspects of BESS projects, from planning and design to construction and commissioning.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables for BESS installations.
Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, and site evaluations to determine the suitability of BESS installations and identify any potential challenges or constraints.
Work closely with design teams to develop detailed engineering plans, including electrical layouts, equipment specifications, and integration requirements for BESS projects.
Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure adherence to project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction activities, ensure compliance with design plans, and address any technical or logistical issues that may arise.
Collaborate with regulatory agencies, utility companies, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with grid interconnection requirements and relevant industry standards.
Stay updated with the latest advancements and best practices in BESS technologies and project management methodologies, providing recommendations for process improvements.
Coordinate procurement activities, including the selection and sourcing of materials, components, and equipment required for BESS installations, ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources, tracking progress, and implementing corrective measures as needed to ensure timely project delivery.
Oversee the testing, commissioning, and performance evaluation of BESS systems, working closely with commissioning engineers and field technicians.
Monitor project performance, analyse data, and prepare progress reports, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
Manage project documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, change orders, and technical reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and version control.
Regular status updates to manager.

Essential Requirements:

Matric.
NQF Level 8 Honours / 4 year degree / Postgraduate Diploma in Electrical / Electronic.
Advanced knowledge in Electrical Design and Project Management.
Working knowledge of SAP; OHS Act; ISO Standards; Electrical Market/Industry.
7 years' experience.
