Reference: Dur000164-Talen-1Large manufacturing concern located South of Durban, requires a Project Engineer to report to the Project Manager. Requirements: B.Eng (Mechanical or Electrical) Government Certificate of Competency - GCC is not compulsory although being qualified to write the GCC is a requirement. 5 years’ FMCG project engineering experience covering all engineering disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Civil Knowledge of OHS Act, Hazardous Chemicals, National Environmental Legislation Expert knowledge of all major plant equipment Duties include: Assist Project manager during design phase of a project - Defining scope/ Process design/equipment selection/layout/material of construction For Projects (Capital or Maintenance) assigned to incumbent: Define project objective, design, equipment selection, materials of construction Ensure accurate drawings and documentation with all projects and modifications Assessment of risk involved in conducting various jobs and activities. In particular, planning and communicating jobs which entail work on high risk areas (high pressure super-heated steam, sulphuric acid, anhydrous ammonia, chlorine gas, phosphoric acid, nitric acid) Interfacing of projects/modifications with production. Handover of all documentation. Assist the Projects Manager to manage change and construction issues and deviations Completing projects on time and ensuring cost control while delivering agreed outputs Lead project commissioning Ensure all project documentation complete Comply with ModProp process Assist in identify recurring troublesome equipment/problems and propose and implement alterations/modifications where agreed. Ensuring contractors comply to all legal requirements, Health&Safety, & Company engineering standards with regards to construction and modifications Completing projects on time and cost while delivering agreed outputs Ensuring projects are commissioned and signed off by users Ensure accurate Drawings and Documentation with all Projects and modifications Conduct all HAZOP, HACCP studies. Assist in SOP's and training. Ensure project is accepted by user before close off. Interaction and communication with Govt reps, Suppliers, Contractors, Vendors, Plant Managers The emphasis of this role is the execution of the project plan Monthly
