The South African National Bioinformatics Institute (SANBI) hosted within the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Western Cape, has an international reputation for genomics research that exceeds 15 years. In October 2023 the Genomic Epidemiology Network was launched and comprise 5 projects in response to the HORIZON-JU-GH-EDCTP3-2022-CALL1-01-03 funding mechanism. This exciting global initiative seeks to bring together interdisciplinary teams to address public health genomic challenges. This network will be coordinated at the University of the Western Cape. We are currently seeking a project manager to oversee the activities of the 5 global projects under this network. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key areas areas: Identify areas of overlap between EDCTP3 grantees and the Africa PGI Document genomic Epidemiology Network meetings Project manage deliverables that intersect among the EDCTP3 grantees and the PHA4GE, Africa PGI and NGS Academy initiatives Quarterly reports for submission to the EDCTP3 portal Minimum Requirements Qualifications and Experience required: Bachelors degree in Management (BA) At least 4 years experience working with international research project coordination. At least 8 years experience with financial reporting At least 1 year Project Management experience At least 10 years experience in grants management Experience managing funding agency/Donor relations Competencies and skills: Knowledge and skills in financial reporting Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a range of stakeholders at all levels Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently Work in an interdisciplinary team Emotional intelligence, excellent communication and people management skills Skilled in public relations and project planning For further information ( but not applications ) about this position, please contact Prof Alan Christoffels via email at alansanbi.ac.za.
