Quality Controller (Meat Casing) - Cape Town City Centre

Our client, a leading provider in the meat processing industry, is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Controller specializing in meat casing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of meat casings, adhering to both internal standards and regulatory requirements. This role demands a high level of precision and expertise in quality control processes, product inspection, and compliance with food safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of meat casings to identify defects or quality issues, ensuring products meet the established standards of quality and safety.

  • Implement and monitor quality control protocols and procedures to enhance the quality of the final product.

  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure quality control measures are understood and followed, minimizing the risk of product contamination or non-compliance.

  • Perform microbial and physical tests on meat casings to ensure they meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Document inspection findings and prepare detailed reports on quality control activities, highlighting any issues or trends that could impact product quality.

  • Work closely with the procurement team to assess and approve raw materials, ensuring they meet required quality standards.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance quality control processes and product standards.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety standards, regulations, and certifications, including HACCP, USDA, and FDA guidelines.

  • Manage and maintain quality control equipment, ensuring it is calibrated and functioning correctly to deliver accurate measurement and testing results.

  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field would be a plus.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance, preferably in the meat processing or related industry.

  • Certification in Quality Control or Quality Management is a plus.

  • In-depth understanding of HACCP, USDA, and FDA regulations and standards would be preferred.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems is desirable.
