Quality Engineer ( Product Safety Representative) - - Uitenhage

The Quality Engineer (Product Safety Representative) will ensure that the Group adheres to the legal obligation to ensure product safety to avoid risks where possible.

Duties:

Assisting in new projects with the establishment of Product Safety. The target is complete implementation of actions/corrective actions to vehicle safety requirements for the prevention of repeat failures with the use of the Product Safety catalogue (lessons learnt).
Inspecting pre-series units in conjunction with other Q-type responsible PSBs to expedite safety relevant problem recognition and corrective action implementation.
Undertaking regular vehicle and line checks to evaluate current production (parts, part assemblies and sub-assemblies), and obtain corrective actions for any potential safety relevant problems detected.
Representing the interest of the Quality Assurance Department during technical discussions with Service and the Product Safety Committee.
Ensuring/Initiating and/or assisting in the establishment of corrective action to resolve the problem, tracking monitoring of the implementation of agreed actions and verification of the effectiveness within the Production / Field with the Service Department.

Requirements:

National Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
3-5 years relevant experience in the automotive industry within Production/ Product Engineering / Quality environment
