Our client is looking for a RE Certified Underwriter – Short-term Insurance to join their team based in Pretoria, South Africa.

Qualifications and Experience:

Must hold RE certification and be qualified in short-term insurance.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the short-term insurance industry, with a proven track record in underwriting and broker duties.
Own transport is required, and candidates must reside within a 20km radius of Menlyn Maine.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with clients, brokers, and internal teams.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of personal grooming and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities:

Assess and underwrite new and renewal short-term insurance applications, ensuring compliance with RE qualifications and industry standards.
Serve as a primary point of contact for brokers, managing relationships, and assisting with broker duties to facilitate the effective selling of insurance products.
Handle claims efficiently, ensuring a high level of accuracy and client satisfaction.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement underwriting policies and procedures that comply with regulatory requirements.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, products, and competitors to recommend enhancements to our product offerings.
Provide exceptional client-facing service, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly to maintain and enhance client relationships.
Conduct risk assessments, policy terms negotiation, and pricing with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
