Introduction The Perinatal HIV Research Unit (Wits PHRU) was established in 1996. The Perinatal HIV Research Unit has been involved in research, training, policy formation, and advocacy in issues concerning HIV-positive women and their children.In recent years the work of the unit has expanded beyond the original focus of mother-to-child transmission of HIV. Description Main purpose of the job: Recruitment, counseling, and retention of clinical trials for participants Location: PHRU – Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Soweto - Johannesburg Key performance areas: Recruitment, counseling, and retention of clinical trial participants Driving participants to and from the clinical trial area Able to meet stipulated targets within the desirable time frame Good communication skills and well-orientated on HIV/TB Conduct HIV behavioral risk discussions with participants & medication adherence counseling Work with community liaison and community advisory board to organize community outreach and education events Ability to refer clients to services and other resources Attention to detail, empathy, and maintaining confidentiality and accurate records Engage with the study team and coordinate as needed Required minimum education and training: Matric Must have a valid PrDP Driver’s License Able to drive and be willing to undergo a driving competency assessment GCP Certificate HSTi Certificate advantage VERY IMPORTANT - Candidates MUST have a valid PrDP Driver’s License. Candidates MUST be able to drive and be willing to undergo a driving competency assessment Required minimum work experience: At least 2 years experience working in clinical trials Experienced in clinical trials recruitment, counseling, and retention of clinical trial participants Multilingual, and well-orientated with Soweto and surrounding areas The ability to work in a complex and demanding environment Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities: Computer literate Establish links with community stakeholders/organizations is advantageous Willing to work overtime Must have good communication Must possess strong organizational skills Must be detail-orientated Must be able to work as a member of a team It is expected that s/he will apply consistent adherence to research and GCP practices TO APPLY: Only if you do meet the minimum job requirements and experience as mentioned above, you may submit a detailed updated CV.
