We are looking for a detail-oriented Supply Chain Operations Officer (SCO) South Africa the SCO is responsible for managing the warehousing, goods-in and goods-out operations of our South African warehouse and plant as well as assuring HSEQ compliance and inventory protection with respect to the warehouse and processing plant. Stewardship compliance is a key part of the role. To control the storage and movement of all seeds; raw, processed and treated, according to QBS warehouse guidelines. Ensure all inventory movement is fully documented according to QBS policies and systems. Ensure customer orders are fulfilled and dispatched in a timely manner and are accompanied by the required documentation. Liaise with transporters to ensure cost effective movement of inventory. Ensure the security of the inventory and make sure it's free from any pests and vermin. Plan fumigation of the seed in the storage warehouses and co-ordinate third party fumigation. Supervise and train any contract or casual warehouse and plant workers on Health, Environmental, Safety and Quality (HSEQ) policies, warehouse operations and seed storage procedures. Act as “Safety Officer”. Carryout activities in the warehouse and plant according to agreed HSEQ procedures. If required assist the P&S in production and management of SPTA Maintainer and INP at the Brits site field production (N.B. This requires flexibility in working practice and willingness to support). Assist in the liaison with Seed Certification Agents and regulatory authorities. Destroy and dispose of all written off seed as approved. Oversee inventory management and control, using agreed systems and processes and support the Finance department in monthly stock taking. Suggest improvements to warehousing & HSEQ procedures and policies to ensure best use of QBS resources and achieve improved efficiency and safety. Ensure efficient and effective seed processing is done according to plant procedures. Maximize seed processing activities by having realistic work plans, effective time management, ensuring shift productivity and work quality. Daily production, shift handover (if any) and production summary reports should be prepared and submitted to P&S Manager. Receive raw seed from farm, field and warehouse for processing and enter all finished products in ERP. Visibility of the processed product from start to finish in conformance with warehouse, Plant Operations and Quality Control procedures must be ensured. Ensure safety hazards observations are reported and registered. Ensure compliance with any Stewardship/ETS guidelines and SOPs. Reporting any nonconformities to the P&S and close them in a timely manner. Support the P&S in the recruitment of suitable contract and casual staff to support operations. Supervise all engineering maintenance and repairs works by contractors on site. Diploma level in business administration, engineering, or related field Experience in regulations and certification pertaining to in-country & cross border seed trade in ESA. Supervisory Skills.
