Renewable Energy Developer (Energy / Projects / IPP / GIS) – Cape Town, South Africa - Cape Town Region

Reference Number: 24 02 24 MW Job Description: Our client, a leading integrated IPP, is seeking a Renewable Energy Developer who will play a pivotal part in advancing our portfolio of renewable energy projects, where innovation is at the forefront of the company’s mission. The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter capable of working independently and delivering accurate results. Responsibilities: Lead the development of renewable energy projects from inception to Financial Close. Conduct site identification, feasibility studies, and resource assessments. Manage the permitting process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and environmental standards. Permitting responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) managing EIA, and rezoning processes and securing Section 53,, WULA and SALA approvals. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to secure land rights, permits, and approvals. Experience with managing project bid submissions for the purposes of REIPPPP or private off-take. Manage internal costs and external consultants in accordance with development budgets. Support during the Financial Close or sale of a project on environmental, legal and technical related due diligence queries. Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including landowners, government departments, regulatory bodies, and industry associations. Represent company in meetings, conferences, and industry events to promote project development initiatives and foster partnerships. Identify and assess project risks, including environmental, technical, regulatory, and financial factors. Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimise potential impacts on project timelines and outcomes. Coordinate project activities and timelines, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are achieved on schedule. Prepare regular progress reports, presentations, and updates for internal management and external stakeholders. Monitor project delivery and performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed. Requirements : Qualification and Skill Minimum of 3 years of experience in renewable energy project development, preferably within the solar, wind, or battery storage. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree preferred. Proven track record of successfully developing renewable energy projects from concept to Financial Close. Strong understanding of project finance principles. Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, industry trends, and regulatory frameworks. Proficiency in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and mapping-related software. Software experience with PVSyst or equivalent would be an advantage. Ability to travel both nationally and internationally, as required.
