The SA R&D Director will collaborate in creating the food portfolio and innovation strategy, leading the development of the R&D organisation in South Africa. This role contributes to business growth, sustainability, and cost productivity programs while aligning with global strategies. The Research and Development Director will report to the General Manager: South Africa and will collaborate with the SA Leadership Team as well as other functional Directors. Key Qualifications and experience required for the R&D Director: Master’s Degree (MBA) or PHD in Food Science, Engineering, or related field (Highly Preferred) Relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Engineering, or related field (Essential) 10 years’ experience in the development of food products People management experience Proven negotiation and influencing skills. Key Duties of the Research & Development Director: Directs all innovation, continuous improvement, and cost optimisation programs for categories and brands within the SA Business Unit. Lead the development of the SA business strategy for Technology and Innovation, driving new product launches and business growth. Manages R&D budgets, ensuring cost effectiveness and professional standards are maintained. Builds a high-performing SA R&D Team through recruitment, development, and effective organisational structures. Represents the organisation internally and externally on business issues in the RNT space. Optimise resource utilisation and seeking synergies with regional and global R&D teams. Co-create food portfolio and innovation strategy.
