PURPOSE OF THE JOB To safely rig and lift heavy equipment and materials MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Grade 12/STD10/NQF Level 4 is essential. Recognized relevant Trade qualification (section 13) is essential. OR Proof of recognised completed apprenticeship contract (completed by means of effluxion of time) AND NTC 2 (Relevant Trade Theory) Qualification is essential. Valid drivers license is essential. Minimum of 3 years working experience as an Artisan is essential. Valid medical certificate or be medically fit to obtain such a certificate. COMPETENCIES: Operating a pendant controlled overhead crane skill is essential Understanding of the importance of planning any rigging operations prior to lifting the load is essential Knowledge of and apply regulatory requirements pertaining to rigging operations is essential. Knowledge of wire rope, rigging accessories, anchor systems and rigging in cable yarding operations is essential. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: Performing pre-engineering studies in order to undertake rigging activities. Planning, organizing and controlling the erection, alteration and dismantling of load bearing scaffolding. Determining the lifting, moving and rigging requirements Inspecting rigging equipments for any defects before using it for rigging purposes Slinging complex loads and communicate during crane operations Preparing conveyances for shaft examination and repairs Replacing conveyances in shafts Transporting materials and equipment in shaft barrels Attending to callouts with regards to breakdowns Conducting on-the-job coaching IMPORTANT: Short listed candidates may be subjected to a psychometric assessment.
