Routine Road and Maintenance Supervisor - Johannesburg

Conduct daily routine road maintenance inspections of the route and Company assets. Identify defects, damages and deterioration of assets. Compile inspection reports and issue work instructions to Contractors/sub-contractors for the repair and rehabilitation of any such non-conformances. Manage sub-contractor(s) on relevant section of the route, inspection of completed works and to compile payment certificates. Duties and Responsibilities  Daily route inspections to identify maintenance requirements.  Reporting of incidents & accidents, as well as damage to / loss of Company assets  Prepare and submit inspection reports.  Issuing of work instructions to Contractors for repairs or rehabilitation of damages or defects on the road surface, as well as within the entire road reserve area.  Maintain records of the asset inspections and surveys.  Assist SMME’s with repair work, trouble shooting and problem solving.  Ensure to follow and apply all Company policies, OHS requirements and work procedures at all times  Provide on-site training to SMME’s, regarding specifications, planning and programmes.  Development and mentoring of SMME’s.  To perform overtime and standby duties, as or when required by the Company.  All duties take place in accordance with the Routine Road Maintenance Manuals, the contractual obligations of the Concession, as well as the relevant performance requirements (SCHEDULE III C).  Responsible to supervise, manage and train all SMME’s on the route through good working relations and within the prescribed policies, rules and regulations of the Company.  Supervision/monitoring of all traffic accommodation actions, performed either by own company employees, or by any other service provider, maintenance contractor or external party, who is permitted to perform traffic accommodation on the route. The incumbent must ensure full compliance with the regulations of the SARTSM, the National Road Act and any other relevant specifications and/or requirements, as stipulated. Qualifications, Skills and Required Competencies  Grade 12  Civil Technician (Minimum NTC III)  Valid Unendorsed Code 08 Drivers Licence  In House Induction  Company’s Contractual Obligations  Excellent communication skills in English  Knowledge of road construction / routine maintenance  Interpretation of as-built drawings and Standard Specifications.  Interpersonal Relationship Skills and teamwork  Planning, programming and supervision of maintenance activities.  Intermediate/Advanced Computer Literacy Skills – must be competent and familiar with the use of MS Word and Excel.  The physical demands are those required to work on the route, by performing daily inspections in a vehicle, as well as frequent detailed on-foot inspections of the route. Must be willing to perform overtime and standby duties, as and when required.  To provide support and assistance with incidents/accidents on the route, when required.  Must be willing to work in all weather conditions.  You will be required to travel in this role on the N1/N4  The work environment characteristics are those encountered on a typical toll road operation, with mostly site work, but also office bound duties for administration, submission of reports and attendance of meetings.
