Job Specification: Safety Officer - Plant/Mining - North WestPosition: Safety OfficerIndustry: Plant and MiningLocation: North West, South AfricaJob Summary:The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring safety policies, procedures, and standards in a plant/mine environment. This individual will evaluate and control workplace hazards, conduct safety training programs, and ensure compliance with local regulations and international best practices. The Safety Officer will work closely with the management team and employees to create and maintain a safe working environment and minimize the risk of accidents or injuries.Responsibilities:Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures in alignment with legislative requirements and industry standards.Conduct regular risk assessments and identify potential hazards in all plant/mine operations.Implement and monitor safety systems, protocols, and initiatives to eliminate or minimize workplace accidents, injuries, and illnesses.Review and update safety programs, manuals, and training materials as needed to ensure effectiveness and relevancy.Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify non-compliance issues and propose corrective actions.Oversee and facilitate safety training programs for all employees, including new hires and contractors.Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, near misses, and other relevant safety data.Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.Provide safety-related guidance, advice, and support to the management team and employees.Liaise with external regulatory authorities and agencies regarding safety matters, inspections, and audits.Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new regulations, and emerging safety technologies to continually improve safety practices.Requirements:Grade 12National Diploma in Safety ManagementCOMSOC 1 and 2 or SAMTRACMust have 5 years proven experience as a Safety Officer in the plant and mining industry.In-depth knowledge of South African health and safety regulations specific to plant and mining operations.Familiarity with international safety standards and best practices in the mining industry.Ability to conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, and incident investigations.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational and time management skills.High level of attention to detail and accuracy.Proficient in using safety management systems and equipment.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.Valid driver's license.Benefits:Salary: NegotiableContact Hire Resolve for your next career-changing move.Salary: negotiable.Our client is offering a highly competitive salary for this role based on experience.Apply for this role today, contact Stefnie Bestbier at Hire Resolve or on LinkedInYou can also visit the Hire Resolve website: hireresolve.us or email us your CV: Mininghireresolve.za.comWe will contact you telephonically in 3 days should you be suitable for this vacancy.
