Job Title: Section Surveyor Location: Johannesburg, South Africa Industry: Mining Hire Resolve's client is a leading player in the mining industry, specialising in mineral extraction and resource optimisation. The Section Surveyor will be responsible for conducting accurate and efficient surveying activities within the mining operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices. The successful candidate will work closely with various teams to provide precise measurements, topographic maps, and data analysis. Responsibilities: Conduct surveys in accordance with company procedures, safety guidelines, and legal requirements. Accurately collect, record, and process survey data using appropriate surveying tools and equipment such as total stations, GPS, and laser scanners. Establish and maintain control points, benchmarks, and reference grid systems. Conduct topographic and contour surveys to identify changes to the mining landscape. Prepare accurate mine plans and update existing mine plans regularly. Collaborate with engineers, geologists, and operations personnel to ensure accurate data collection and interpretation. Monitor and report on the progress of mining operations and identify potential issues or discrepancies. Assist in the design and implementation of new mine layouts and infrastructure. Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with surveying processes and procedures. Provide technical expertise and support in resolving survey-related matters. Train and mentor junior surveying staff to develop their skills and knowledge. Stay updated on industry advancements, technologies, and best practices related to surveying in the mining industry. Requirements: A minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Section Surveyor in the mining industry. Mine Surveyor's Certificate Extensive knowledge and understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and instruments. Proficient in operating surveying equipment and software, including total stations, GPS, and laser scanners. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret survey data and identify discrepancies. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and health and safety requirements. Professional registration with a relevant surveying body will be an advantage. Proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey surveying information to various stakeholders. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
