Senior Accountant - equity requirement - Maitland, CT - South Africa
Our client is looking for a hands on / operational Senior Accountant (Maitland, Cape Town). The incumbent will be reporting to the General Manager: Finance.
The main function of this position is to play a fundamental role in supervising and managing staff to ensure the alignment of tasks and their performance to the overall objectives of the accounting division. To ensure integrity of accounting records by adherence to policies, procedures and internal controls, as well as providing recommendations for improvement.
The key tasks & responsibilities for this position are to:
Ensure that all accounting/admin, and internal control systems are properly adhered to
Assist the Regional and Branch Management with all accounting/admin functions
Preparation of monthly financial statements and interpretation thereof
Preparation of monthly management reports
Interpret and write financial reports once month end results are completed
Preparation of annual budgets
Preparing of quarterly board packs
Monitor performance against budgets and continually re-evaluating forecasts
Understand statutory requirements, e.g. VAT, imports, exports
Ensure that official records are accurately and timeously maintained
Supervise / train accounting staff at Branch and Regional level
Liaise with Internal Audit, Salaries, Legal, Human Resources, Transport and IT Departments at Head Office
Get involved in the financial side of operations
Report to General Manager: Finance
The key educational requirements and qualifications for this position would be:
A valid grade 12 certificate is essential
B. Com in Accounting or an equivalent degree essential
K8 experience advantageous
A minimum of 3 years articles or experience in a similar role
Computer literate
If no articles, 5 years experience required within a similar role

Be prepared to travel when required
Must have previous managerial experience in accounting and admin

Articulate and presentable
Be assertive, outgoing, confident and reliable
FMCG/ Manufacturing/ wholesale experience desirable and candidate should understand that they should be hands on
Salary - R850 000pa CTC
