Senior Backend Engineer - South Africa
Responsibilities: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver robust solutions Design, build and optimise cloud-based microservices and backend systems using Python, Django, SQL Implement reusable libraries, frameworks, and services to empower frontend developers. Implement RESTful APIs, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and other DevOps practices Monitor and optimise application performance across cloud environments Research and evaluate new technologies and proposed ways of improving existing systems. Qualifications: BSc Computer Science or equivalent degree Minimum 5 years of software development experience Proficiency with Python, Django, SQL and developing complex backends. Experience building and consuming REST APIs Relational database design and optimization skills Experience building scalable cloud-native applications (AWS, GCP, Azure, Digital Ocean) NICE TO HAVE: Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) Async messaging (Kafka, MQTT, RabbitMQ) Experience with Tableau, Power BI or similar Perks and Benefits: Collaborate with a global team spread across the US, UK, Canada and South Africa.
