NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (MAFIKENG CAMPUS) DIVISION: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FINANCE AND FACILITIES DEPARTMENT: PROTECTION SERVICES POSITION NUMBER: M000556 VACANCY: SENIOR CONTROL OFFICER – INVESTIGATIONS PEROMNES: P10 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT APPOINTMENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION To manage Investigation Services. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Strategy Implementation: To implement the NWU Protection Services Strategy. Allocate case dockets to investigators. Provide guidance to investigators. Conduct 24-hour inspections pm dockets. Conduct quality assurance first level inspection prior to handing over to Senior Manager. Investigate serious cases. Submit a monthly report to the Senior Manager indicating the roll, no of cases received, detection rate, cases withdrawn. Implement crime scene management. Viewing of CCTV recordings Operational Investigation Services: Verify information and submit to Senior Manager. Interpretation of crime threat and pattern analysis. Ensure that briefing notes are compiled. Tracing of respondents. Crime information management: Verify information and submit to Senior Manager. Interpretation of crime threat and pattern analysis. Ensure that briefing notes are compiled. Develop perpetrator profiles. Disaster Management: Implement the Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP). Activate the Senior Manager (SM) as soon as a disaster occurs. Crime prevention management: Ensure that deployments are executed in terms of the Crime Pattern Analysis (CPA). Ensure crime prevention actions are executed, such as, stop and search, active patrols, observation, and vehicle check points (VCPS). Develop a crime prevention plan. SHE: Implement the relevant section of the OHSA. Participate in the quarterly SHE departmental meeting. Training and Development: Identify training needs of members in terms of PDP. Nominate members to attend relevant and developmental training interventions. People Management: Conduct performance appraisals of members. Identify development areas. A bachelor's degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF level 7) in Criminal Justice/Policing OR Forensic Auditing. Grade 12 (NQF level 4). PSIRA – Grade A (If not in possession must get it within six months of employment). A minimum of three (3) years' experience in Security / Policing on a supervisory / management level or experience in Crime and Incident Investigation on a supervisory / management level. ADDED ADVANTAGE A National Diploma Criminal Justice / Policing (NQF Level 6). A Diploma Criminal Justice & Forensic Auditing 5 (NQF Level 5).
